Kaiser Permanente
David Couper was invited to analyze the needs of Kaiser Permanente Vision Services. This included:
- Creating a vision and mission for the needs of the Division.
- Focus groups, surveys, and interviews with management, supervisors, and employees to determine technical and non-technical needs.
- Identifying areas of improvement.
The Needs Analysis surfaced training needs related to:
- Customer Service
- Team Motivation
- Supervisory Skills
The Needs Analysis also surfaced operation needs related to:
- Communication
- Reengineering processes
- Job roles and responsibilities.
The training needs analysis report was the first time that the Kaiser Division had collected all the data related to training and operational performance in one place. It became a guide for all future development.

Kaiser Permanente
Working with the executive team, David Couper developed a five year plan for addressing their training and operation needs. This included:
- Prioritizing both training and operational needs
- Selecting a delivery method to meet individual needs
- Creating a budget for training and other projects
- Selecting outside and internal resources to meet needs
- Developing an infrastructure to support the delivery of solutions

Miller Brewing
David Couper designed training to meet team-building and communication needs of employees and supervisors.
The training was designed to create a foundation in basic skills through involving, high-energy, experiential training seminars. The training was delivered to all employees and helped to create better teamwork, including increased productivity and better quality.
Toyota
Toyota Financial Systems were designing and implementing a new computer system for their employees.
David Couper designed training to simulate the new system, deal with change management issues and to create user support tools and reference materials.
Arthur Andersen
David Couper worked with Arthur Andersen in Chicago up until 1997. The following are some of the projects he contributed to.
Designed business television program on the use of the Internet shown to 2500 audience. The program included presentation, interactive question sessions and interviews. The program was awarded Best Program Produced by Private Satellite Network in USA (TelCon).
Developed communication and team-building skills program for 5000+ staff level.
Developed 12 video programs on communication skills, client relationships and financial techniques for use in international training program for 5000 people worldwide.

David Couper delivered custom and off-the shelf training to Miller Brewing to cover the following training needs:

Training sessions were four or eight hours in length and were held on 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts to meet employee and organization needs.

Arthur Andersen
David Couper managed 25 people and budget of $1.5M in the development of 4 day education and networking seminar for 1000 people from around the world.
The seminar included presentations, workshops, networking events, and self-study materials.
The seminar was rated (4.72 on 5 scale), the highest ever in the ten-year history of this seminar, and won a national award.
